The 30-month project aims to improve the sustainable use of water and land resources in the context of climate change to help mitigate tensions and build trust across the densely populated Fergana Valley. The Syr Darya River Basin, so vital to the region, is affected by competition for resources, inefficient natural resource management (NRM) and climate change. Acted will work with local stakeholders to promote conflict sensitive NRM and invest in water efficiency and accounting infrastructure in Kyrgyzstan (Batken Region), Tajikistan (Sughd Region) and Uzbekistan (Fergana Region). Through a principles-based approach and targeted investment and technical assistance, the project will benefit NRM stakeholders and resident communities in riparian communities relying on shared transboundary natural resources, enhancing NRM efficiency, local resilience, and local capacities for peace.
