Afghanistan Humanitarian Action
May 2022
May 2024

Forty years of war, the COVID-19 pandemic, natural disasters and the change of regime have resulted in the near collapse of the schooling system in Afghanistan. This project will aim to To improve equitable access to quality and protective education services for out of school girls and boys in Kunduz, Baghlan and Takhar through community mobilisation, the provision of CBC and AEP classes and support to the hub schools as well as maintain and reinforce evidence-based responses to improving household socio-economic vulnerability, which in turn exacerbates sectoral needs. With recent findings from the mid-year Whole of Afghanistan 2022 showing financial barriers to accessing education rising, meeting these needs also requires a multi-sectoral approach. Thus, REACH will provide response-wide support to cash programming in Afghanistan to adapt to the impact of the ongoing economic crisis affecting the country in an evidence-driven way.
