Immediate support to foster agricultural resilience and sustainable livelihoods in rural North-Western Afghanistan (Balkh and Samangan)

Afghanistan Humanitarian Action
December 2023
November 2025

This 24-month project aims to enhance agricultural resilience and social cohesion in Balkh and Samangan provinces by providing training, resources, and infrastructure for inclusive and community-based agricultural development. Given the adverse impact of climate change on food security and the significant lack of access to basic services in these two regions, Acted will work towards increasing local agricultural resilience and food security among livestock farmers. The project’s goal is to ensure climate-change resistant and sustainable local agriculture, thereby improving the community’s access to basic human needs. Additionally, the project seeks to strengthen women’s position in society through training and in-kind support, enhancing their autonomy in agriculture.

The project will benefit livestock and agricultural farmers, Basic Veterinary Workers, women farmers, as well as the entire community through the support of Natural Resources Management Committees (NRMCs)/Forest Associations and Common Interest Groups.
