June 1st, 2023 – KYIV, Ukraine. With funding from EU Humanitarian Aid, Acted the Estonian Refugee Council (ERC) continue to address emergency needs across Ukraine through cash assistance.
The action will draw on Acted and ERC’s extensive experience in cash assistance in Ukraine since 2015, and on the 2022 EU Humanitarian Aid cash assistance project supporting conflict–affected individuals. Through this previous project, more than 225,000 people received cash aid.
Multi-purpose cash assistance continues to be the most effective, appropriate, and timely way to support affected and vulnerable populations in meeting their urgent needs. The flexibility of cash assistance allows families to cover their highest priority needs.
Acted also continues to rapidly respond to emergencies like the recent rocket strikes in Dnipro and Odessa cities.
My mother and I live right on the street of the explosion. We were at home when the series of explosions happened. We hid behind two walls and covered ourselves with two blankets. They saved us from the debris. Our house, garage, and all outbuildings were damaged. The windows and half of the roof were destroyed.
In addition, Acted and ERC will distribute 125 financial grants to people residing in the rural communities of the Chernihivska, Kharkivska, Mykolaivska, Sumska and Zaporizska oblasts. The intervention aims to support households in restoring or launching commercial and non-commercial agricultural, livestock and small-scale service ventures to meet minimum subsistence standards.
