Nutrition crisis in the Sahel: nearly a million people at risk

The Sahelian belt crosses central Chad, traveling through a dozen regions that are hit by serious food and nutrition crises every year. The severity of the crisis, but also its structural nature lead to rethinking the bases of the interventions. 86% of households in the Wayi and 71% of households in Batha are food insecure. 70% of Wayi households lost a significant portion of their livestock. In the Batha, cereal production decreased by 9.4% in 2017-2018 compared to the average of the last 5 years.
