Committing to a more sustainable world: An expertise in water management and gender

In the framework of the High-level International Conference “Water for Sustainable Development” 2018-2028, ACTED highlighted its expertise and experience in the field on water management and gender.

The International Conference was held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on June 20th and 21st, and gathered leaders from all over the world to raise the topic of the key importance of water to reach sustainable development.

ACTED Tajikistan Country Director, Ms. Rano Mansurova, was invited as a key speaker in the pre-conference related to women and water. She made a clear statement about the importance of strengthening women’s role in water sector reforms in Central Asia. ACTED Tajikistan has been implementing for years successful projects addressing women and water management, by involving women in the decision-making processes related to access to water and water management. Ms. Mansurova presented the findings of this event in the plenary session of the International Conference, the next day, in front of world leaders and key stakeholders.

Moreover, ACTED’s action and expertise on water issues in Tajikistan were highlighted through a press conference organized by the French Embassy in Dushanbe on June 19th. ACTED Tajikistan was invited by the French Ambassador in Tajikistan to present its projects and commitments in Sughd and Ayni regions in front of Tajik journalists, who showed a great interest for this issue.
