The pooling of logistical resources is a core principle that the “Humanitarian Logistics Network – RLH” has carried for many years as a central to their humanitarian work*.
In the context of the COVID19 global crisis, the RLH (Humanitarian Logistics Network – representing 9 member NGOs including ACTED, Action contre la faim, la Croix-Rouge française, Handicap International, Médecins du Monde, Oxfam Intermón, Plan International, Première Urgence Internationale, Solidarités International and a larger number of beneficiary NGOs) is at the forefront of coordinating the purchase and transport of essential medical equipment for field operations to fight the pandemic worldwide. Through the chartering of inter-NGO humanitarian aircraft (cargo/staff), the RLH is demonstrating the fundamental need for NGOs to work together to be faster and more efficient in such key moments. This unprecedented large-scale operation is possible thanks to the demonstrated capacity and reputation that the RLH has developed over the years and through the vital support of our partner ECHO.
Such an operation parallels those similar seen elsewhere, emphasizing and showcasing the effective coordination throughout the humanitarian community in such moments of crisis.
The 7th May, the first inter-NGO humanitarian flight coordinated by the RLH and financed by ECHO will leave Lyon for Bangui with essential equipment (PPE, medicines,…) of 13 NGOS and with more than 48 NGOs staff on board.
