Improving food security and nutrition for vulnerable communities in the Karamoja region

Uganda Inclusive Economic Opportunities
August 2024
August 2025

This project aims to build upon the successful implementation of the ‘Strengthening the resilience and nutritional well-being of communities in Amudat and Nakapiripirit (SRNAN)’ project, which was implemented by Acted between June 2022 and June 2023 with the support of the French Embassy in Karamoja. In this new proposed implementation, Acted, in partnership with Caritas Moroto Diocese, will: 1) Improve food security by encouraging 1,200 vulnerable households in Amudat and Nakapiripirit to adopt sustainable agricultural practices, through targeted cash transfers, skills training and environmental regeneration. 2) Provide comprehensive and sustainable nutritional support to households in Amudat and Nakapiripirit, through improving knowledge and access to nutritional food. The project’s duration is 12 months (August 2024 – August 2025). It will be implemented in the districts of Amudat and Nakapiripirit in Karamoja.
