RENUTRI Mocimboa – Nutritional Resilience Program in MocImboa da Praia district

Mozambique Food Security
October 2025
August 2026

In the framework of the Project RENUTRI Mocimboa, Acted aims at strengthening community resilience to undernutrition through school garden initiatives and support to nutrition-sensitive income-generating activities.

Acted contributes to the prevention of undernutrition by fostering complementary, community-based pathways to dietary diversification and nutrition-sensitive approaches. Through the establishment of school gardens in primary schools and secondary schools of Mocimboa da Praia district, the project creates inclusive spaces for diversified food production, agroecological training, and nutrition awareness. These gardens will serve as hubs for students, teachers, and surrounding communities, reinforcing healthy dietary behaviours and local nutrition-sensitive food systems.

In parallel, Acted will support households with Pregnant and Lactating Women (PLWs) and caregivers of Children Under 2 (CU2) in launching or strengthening nutrition-sensitive income-generating activities. This support will combine financial assistance (through in-kind kits and e-cash modalities) with practical coaching in business planning, financial management, and the use of income for improved household and community nutrition. This comprehensive approach complements and reinforces the long-term impact of the activities proposed by Acted Consortium’s partners Action contre la Faim (ACF) and Solidarités International (SI), aiming to enhance both the availability and utilization of nutritious foods in the targeted communities, contributing to improved food security and reduction of undernutrition.

Finally, Acted will promote cross-learning among beneficiaries, linking caregivers of young children, school garden-based initiatives, and the broader community.
