During 12 months, Acted will implement a project to improve access to optimal hygiene conditions for displaced and returnee populations and host communities in the Bakouma sub-prefecture (Balinguini, Bakouma, Nzako, Ndenguilo, Ndambissoa, Gangoua), for 7,000 beneficiaries. The project includes the rehabilitation of 8 boreholes and the construction of 6 new water points, the training of 14 local craftsmen, and the improvement of sanitation infrastructures with the construction of 100 family latrines, 4 institutional latrines and showers and 16 emergency latrines. A waste management system and latrine management and hygiene committees will be set up in the health facilities concerned. In addition, 30 community relays will train 7,000 people in hygiene practices and distribute hygiene kits to 500 families and intimate hygiene kits to 200 households.
