For the past 30 years, Acted has been working at the forefront of humanitarian action to save lives. Acted supports more than 27 million people in 43 countries, meeting their needs in hard-to-reach areas, while pursuing a triple mandate as a humanitarian, environmental, and development actor. Acted relies on a deep understanding of local contexts to develop and implement long-term actions, in collaboration with a wide range of local and international partners, to collectively build a 3ZERO world: Zero Exclusion, Zero Carbon and Zero Poverty.
Myanmar’s complex and multi-faceted humanitarian crisis is characterised by armed conflicts, inter-communal tensions, and vulnerability to natural hazards. The events of 1 February 2021 have exacerbated these pre-existing vulnerabilities, with 19.9 million people (over a third of the country’s total population) expected to be in need of humanitarian assistance in 2025. Additionally, as of January 2025, there are more than 3.5 million internally displaced persons in Myanmar. Compounding these vulnerabilities, Myanmar is consistently ranked as one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change, with a propensity for flooding and cyclones.
Acted launched operations in Myanmar in August 2008, focusing on providing emergency relief whilst actively building towards resilience. Since then, it has expanded operations into Rakhine State, Yangon Region, Northern and Southern Shan States, and Kayah State, partnering with local organisations to provide food security, livelihoods, water, sanitation and hygiene, social cohesion, and protection assistance. To ensure the sustainability of its actions, Acted places localisation at the core of its strategy and its various interventions in Myanmar, leveraging the strengths and know-how of local civil society grassroots organisations in all areas of interventions to meet the local needs, while strengthening the capacities of its partners.
The Project Development Manager (PDM) positions Acted with donors and leads the development of project proposals in line with Acted’s global and in-country programme strategy, and ensures proper grant management. The PDM ensures smooth internal communication and coordination with relevant departments, and contributes to Acted external communication strategy.
