Venezuela

Since its presence in Venezuela in 2020, Acted has implemented various projects across 5 states focusing on food security (food distribution and school meals), livelihoods (distribution of agricultural and artisanal inputs, training, awareness-raising), protection (awareness-raising and training on protection and GBV, access to documentation), water, hygiene, and sanitation (rehabilitation, distribution of hygiene kits, collection and storage, purification, awarenessraising).

Venezuela is facing a severe humanitarian crisis, with over 7.7 million people having migrated in the past decade, marking the largest exodus in Latin America. According to HNO 2024 data, inside the country, 7.6 million people require humanitarian assistance. The economy has suffered a 75% GDP loss between 2014 and 2021, and the minimum wage remains at $3.7 per month. Basic services have deteriorated, with only 30% of public schools operational in 2023. The healthcare system is critically underfunded, leaving 7.1 million people with unmet health needs, and only 29% receiving services. Food insecurity affects 4.4 million people (15.4% of the population), while 30% of indigenous communities lack access to safe water. Migration remains high, with 260,000 people crossing the Darién Gap in 2023, 35% women and 21% children. Gender-based violence affects 1.8 million people, and 1.3 million children need protection interventions.
