Provision of CCCM, protection and social cohesion responses to Sudan crisis affected populations

South Sudan Strengthening Institutions and Civil Society
June 2024
December 2024

This 7-month intervention in Renk and Manyo counties, Upper Nile, aims to respond to the ongoing influx of refugees and returnees fleeing conflict in Sudan to the north, since April 2023. Building on prior implementations, the objectives of this project are to provide crisis-affected communities in Upper Nile with immediate relief and improved living conditions in the temporary sites before their onward movement, and to enhance the social cohesion with the host communities. This will be achieved through providing returnees and refugees in transit with access to information, basic services and infrastructure, and also through enabling returnees, refugees and host communities to co-exist peacefully in areas of high return. It is estimated that 420,000 refugees and returnees will seek refuge in South Sudan during 2024.
