Across Yemen, years of displacement have reshaped everyday life for thousands of families. In camp-like settings and surrounding host communities, access to basic services, safe shelter and protection remains a daily challenge, particularly for the most vulnerable internally displaced persons (IDPs).
It is in this context that Acted operates on the ground, working to improve living conditions and support displacement-affected communities. Through a multi-sectoral humanitarian intervention funded by the European Union, Acted delivers assistance across 16 districts in 6 governorates, reaching 88,908 people affected by displacement.
Acted’s response focuses on concrete, life-saving actions. Teams support site management in IDP locations, improve access to shelter and non-food items (NFIs), expand water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services, and address protection needs in both displacement sites and host communities. In areas exposed to seasonal risks, flood preparedness measures are also implemented to reduce vulnerabilities and strengthen community resilience.
These activities are carried out within a coordinated framework. Acted is a core member of the Yemen Displacement Response (YDR) Consortium, established in 2019, alongside the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). Together, consortium members work to deliver a coherent and integrated response to displacement across Yemen.
