In the municipality of Ouahigouya, ACTED will implement a project aimed at strengthening the livelihoods and resilience of 250 households, representing approximately 1,750 internally displaced persons (IDPs) and members of host communities, with support from the World Food Programme.
The intervention is part of an integrated approach combining livelihood support, community capacity building, and the promotion of social cohesion.
The project includes:
- The creation or revitalization of five village committees, accompanied by capacity building to ensure the sustainability of the actions carried out.
- Technical training for beneficiaries in collaboration with the relevant services.
- Provision of equipment or animals to generate income.
To support livelihoods:
- 100 individuals will be supported in developing income-generating activities (IGAs) such as dyeing, weaving, and wire mesh making.
- 50 soil-less farming kits will be distributed, accompanied by practical training.
- 50 poultry kits and 50 pastoral kits will be provided to strengthen animal production capacities.
- 3 local cooperatives will be set up and supported to structure and sustain economic initiatives.
This project goes beyond emergency assistance: it aims to promote the autonomy, economic resilience, and social cohesion of vulnerable communities.
