December 2028

Funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and implemented as part of Acted's regional Central Asia programme, "Equality: Advancing Women's Rights and Empowerment" is a four-year initiative designed to strengthen gender equality across Uzbekistan. Building on insights from previous projects and informed by a thorough stakeholder analysis, Equality Phase II addresses the social, political, and economic challenges faced by women, particularly considering recent regulatory changes. The project's strategy focuses on three key outcomes: enhancing the effectiveness of Gender-Based Violence prevention and response mechanisms; empowering vulnerable women through economic capacity building; and strengthening local Civil Society Organizations' capacity to influence gender legislation and conduct effective advocacy at local and national levels. Implementation of EQUALITY is taking place in the Khorezm, Qashqadarya, Surkhandarya, and Tashkent regions.

Pillars:

- Prevention and response to gender-based violence;

- Advocacy and gender-inclusive participation;

- Women’s economic empowerment.

Outcomes:

1. Increased effectiveness of GBV prevention and response mechanism benefiting community members;

2. Vulnerable women / women at risk are empowered and better capacitated to generate sustainable income and access the labour market;

3. Local CSO’s with enhanced capacities participate and influence decision making on gender legislation and advocacy locally and nationally.
