Hanan has embarked on this journey with the goal of increasing her income and supporting her husband and four children, all while running her home-based business specialized in designing and crafting accessories such as bracelets and earrings. She was hired as a junior supervisor, responsible for training and monitoring the workers throughout the implementation of the work. Participation in this initiative provided Hanan with a remarkable opportunity for personal and professional growth. Through the “Support to Livelihoods Through Cultural Heritage Development” project, she not only improved her technical skills and knowledge related to heritage site restoration but also enhanced her communication and leadership abilities. Hanan’s journey is a shining example of how cultural heritage development can positively impact the lives of individuals, families, and communities, fostering economic stability and personal development.

It is very positive to focus on this type of projects which aim to develop and protect the heritage sites, while also resulting at increasing the incomes of the community through short-term job opportunities

Thanks to funding support from the European Union and in collaboration with UNESCO, the ILO, the Department of Antiquities, and the Ministry of Tourism, Acted is working to support livelihoods through cultural heritage rehabilitation in Beit Eidis and Pella, Irbid Governorate, Jordan. The project has created employment opportunities and provided skills training for 283 Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanians, all while preserving local cultural heritage.
