Due to COVID-19, Afghanistan closed schools for five months leaving 7.5 million children with no access to education, however schools are starting to reopen as long as they meet minimum requirements to allow a safe return to learning, and therefore ACTED’s 6 month project targeting Jawzjan province will provide 58 primary and secondary schools and 13 Community Based Classes with access to handwashing stations with soap and potable water plus WASH and disinfection kits. In addition, ACTED will provide 43,174 boy and girl students, women and men teachers with two washable, reusable facemasks each across 80 schools and 13 CBCs.
