Supporting resilience for host communities, returnees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Iraq

Iraq Rehabilitation and Recovery
July 2018
November 2020

This two-year, multi-partner action will target up to 250,000 beneficiaries in recently retaken areas of Ninewa and Salah Al Din governorates in Iraq through both large and small scale WASH interventions and a holistic livelihoods component. Within the WASH component, ACTED and WHH will lead on the rehabilitation of 9 large- scale WASH infrastructures as identified by the Iraqi Directorate of Water, while all partners will contribute to the further rehabilitation of 67 public WASH facilities (principally targeting public buildings such as schools and health centers etc). The WASH component also contains a behavioral change campaign based on a community assessment designed by PIN. The livelihoods component will target both rural and urban areas for the establishment/rehabilitation of vocational training centers, the provision of locally-relevant VT courses, along with the provision of grants and in-kind inputs to support the rehabilitation of the agricultural sector. ACTED (exclusively) will also work together to execute five community-participatory quick impact projects focused on livelihoods, access to services or community infrastructure.
