As part of 71EKX implemented in Rakhine and Kayah States, ACTED has been supporting low-income women tailors to establish businesses manufacturing reusable sanitary pads via the importation of raw materials from a specialised Indian supplier. However, the import appeared to be an unviable solution. Through this grand, ACTED will hire a consultant to conduct a small-scale market assessment to identify equivalent materials available in Myanmar, and establish connections between the tailors and local supply chains. The overall objective is the development of an alternative business plan better suited to the target women and current political and economic climate in Myanmar.
