Support improved provision of basic social and health services through local capacity building in Lebanon and Iraqi Kurdistan

Lebanon Emergencies and disaster resilience

December 2020

Long-term resilience building activities are needed to enable neighbouring countries and host communities to continue hosting Syrian refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) without exacerbating socio-economic vulnerabilities or adding pressure to stretched services and resources.

Within 24 months over this three year project, ACTED Iraq aims to mitigate the impact of the crisis on service delivery in host communities, contributing to resilience and social stability in Dohuk governorate. This will be done through increasing the capacity of workers and management of 3 local institutions (including the Directorate of Labour and Social Affairs in Dohuk) to respond to basic needs, and promote enhanced dialogue between host communities, displaced people and refugee population.

Further, ACTED will improve resilience, social stability and access of marginalised community members to basic health and psycho-social services through 18 community-driven initiatives funded through sub-grants to at least 6 civil society organizations.

Finally, ACTED will enhance dialogue through outreach, workshops, and advocacy campaigns, reaching the civil society, local and national institutions at a country and at a regional level.
