Providing lifesaving support to minimize the risk of COVID-19 spreading in communities and schools in Nangarhar, Faryab, Balkh, Takhar and Kunduz

In this six-month project in Faryab, Balkh, Kunduz,Takar and Nangarhar, ACTED will target 49,994 beneficiaries with COVID-19 IPC sensitization campaigns as well as install portable and semi-portable handwashing stations to reduce the viruses spread. 3,000 of the most vulnerable households will also receive WASH Cluster-endorsed COVID kits. In addition, ACTED will coordinate with local authorities to disinfect common public places. ACTED will also advocate to and work with P/DEDs to ensure safe school re-opening plans are created. ACTED will then help implement these in at least six schools over the five provinces. To attract children back to schools, and especially girls, ACTED will construct or rehabilitate handwashing facilities plus latrines to build back better. This will reach 3,090 beneficiaries.
