Mitigation and Response to Gender-Based Violence and Enhancing Access to Reproductive Health Services in vulnerable neighbourhoods of Tripoli and Beirut

Lebanon Access to Basic Services
May 2020
November 2020

This 3-month intervention in response to the Covid-19 crisis will target 210 women, men, boys and girls in Bab el Tebbaneh-Tripoli (North) and in the Southern suburbs of Beirut, with the aim of mitigating and responding to gender-based violence through provision of remote specialized services in vulnerable urban neighborhoods. In such over-crowded areas, confinement implies sharing small living spaces with family members, including, for women and girls, potential abusers. As vulnerable women and girls have temporarily lost access to the positive coping mechanisms that they resorted to (such as visiting family members and friends, going out to shopping centers, taking the children out of the house for a social activity, etc.) due to the imposed social distancing, ACTED’s project will support these women and girls in recreating social links under the confinement, while providing them with tailored MHPSS support and GBV awareness raising, and more broadly engaging adolescents boys, girls and men through advocacy activities and peer to peer initiatives (3 in Beirut and 3 in Tripoli).
