Integrated WASH, Shelter, CCCM and Information Management Support to Improve living Conditions of Drought Affected Rural and IDP Populations in Somalia

Somalia Access to Basic Services
September 2020
February 2021

Displacement continues throughout Somalia due climatic crises, evictions and conflict. From July to December 2019, 84 per cent of the newly displaced were as a result of floods and droughts. This situation is forecasted to deteriorate in 2020 due to the expanding desert locust crisis which will impact livelihoods. Additionally, the rapidly developing COVID-19 crisis may lead to further crises, especially for IDPs who often live in overcrowded conditions which lack adequate WASH and health services.

ACTED will implement an integrated intervention to address the increased vulnerabilities and improved the strained essential services in IDP sites. This action will include WASH, Economic Recovery and Market Systems (ERMS) with conditional and unconditional cash transfers, Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) and Shelter/NFIs activities. Through ACTED’s sister organization IMPACT, and its initiative REACH, the action will create information products, including Hard to Reach Areas assessments, the Somalia Joint Multi-Cluster Needs Assessment, NFI Joint Market Monitoring Initiative while supporting at least four clusters through the calculation of people in need.
