Integrated economic development of Central and Uva Provinces of Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka Sustainable and inclusive growth
July 2017
July 2021

This four-year project aims at reducing poverty level in the Central and Uva Provinces of Sri Lanka, bringing actors from the government, institutional, economic and social layers into a multi-stakeholder coordinated action.

More concretely, by promoting an integrated, inclusive and climate resilient socio-economic development, the action will sustainably improve the livelihoods of the targeted communities. This will be done through individual tailored support for leveraging the development of the target Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs); through improvement of the quality of Business Development Services (BDS) by training and inter-connecting them to sustain their development; and by engaging Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and government authorities in inclusive and resilient local governance for socio- economic development of the target regions.

The project will directly target 320 Small and Medium Enterprises, 80 Civil Society Organizations, 60 Business Development Services providers, and 116 government and local authorities. It is expected that 2,000 employment opportunities will be created through the project.
