Improving the living conditions of refugee and conflict-affected communities in Niger

Niger Sustainable and inclusive growth
September 2020
September 2021

This one-year project aims to support local planning efforts to improve the living conditions of refugees, returnees, displaced persons and host communities in Tillaberi and Diffa, while informing humanitarian programming. As a first step, ACTED will support local planning through needs assessments and gap analyses as part of the AGORA initiative. Economic resilience will be strengthened through the implementation of Quick Neighborhood Projects (QNP), Income Generating Activities (IGA) and TV. In addition, ACTED will improve safe and accessible water supply and sanitation infrastructure while supporting regular and rapid access to hygiene promotion through community mobilization, rehabilitation of water points, construction of community latrines and implementation of solid waste management systems. Finally, evidence-based humanitarian decision-making and planning will be improved through the revival of the Diffa Forced Displacement platform. Camp and site mapping and protection assessment will be carried out, particularly in the areas of camp and site management and protection. In total, the project will directly benefit 22,410 people, 50% of whom are refugees.
