Improving access to WASH services and livelihoods opportunities

South Sudan Zero Poverty
January 2020
December 2020

Through this project ACTED will provide emergency WASH services to the four refugee camps (Doro, Kaya, Gendrassa and Yusuf Batil) in Maban County, Upper Nile State, South Sudan, targeting approx. 167,056 refugees for 12 months (January to December 2019). The project will involve operating and maintaining water supply systems (including boreholes, pipelines and water points), as well as latrine construction and decommissioning, hygiene promotion campaigns and capacity building of WASH Committees. In addition, the project will also involve agricultural and business development activities, in order to address the immediate food needs and diversify livelihoods in camps and host communities. The four camps in Maban are host to vulnerable refugees that have been displaced due to fighting in Blue Nile State, Sudan.
