Emergency shelter assistance to the Beirut population affected by the explosion

Lebanon Humanitarian Action
September 2020
December 2020

The proposed response aims to tackle the immediate shelter needs that emerged as a result of the August 4th port explosions, providing access to safe and dignified living conditions both on the individual as well as community level, over 5 months. The intervention will support 300 most affected refugee/migrant and host families (estimated as 1,500 individuals - 5 members per family units) with shelter repairs as well as 10 common spaces rehabilitations in the neighborhoods of Karantina and Mar Mikhael (Zones 6-11). Tapping into the overall coordination mechanisms of the shelter sector and Lebanese institutions, as well as initiatives on the ground, this programme proposes area-based and participatory assistance which will be facilitated in close coordination with national and local actors.
