Pakistan Emergencies and disaster resilience
November 2019
May 2020

Through this 3.5 month project, ACTED will provide Conditional for Trainings (CfTs) to extremely vulnerable individuals (EVI) in order to ameliorate their food consumption patterns and improve their overall access to cash and food. A total of 24,000 PKR in four cycles (6,000 PKR per cycle) will be distributed on a condition that beneficiaries will attend five day trainings (total four months) on hygiene and nutrition promotion sessions and skills development in each cycle. Moreover, owing to huge losses inflicted to agricultural land by drought, ACTED will provide targeted agriculture management trainings with an aim to disseminate awareness about climate smart agriculture and modern agriculture practices to sustain/increase agriculture production. Furthermore, ACTED will target 1,500 able-bodied men for cash for work (CfW) activities focusing on all-inclusive communal infrastructure rehabilitation schemes including the rehabilitation of water harvesting channels and small water ponds for providing short-term livelihood support along with creating net community benefit. In addition, 500 female beneficiaries will be involved in cash for work activities with an aim to provide them with alternate income generation options, thereby improving food security situation of their families. The current episode of drought has also adversely affected the lifespan of livestock. ACTED will also orient the selected beneficiaries over sustainable livestock and agriculture management techniques through Cash for training and will provide 24,000 PKR for four cycles (6,000 PKR per cycle). Furthermore, 800 female beneficiaries will be provided with skills development training which will enable them to earn income through alternate livelihood options.
