Addressing food insecurity for vulnerable conflict-affected populations in Syria

Syria Emergency Response
September 2019
August 2020

This 13-month project will provide a flexible and comprehensive response to food insecurity within Syria. ACTED will utilize an area-based approach, combining emergency assistance and durable solutions to enhance conflict-affected populations’ food security. ACTED will provide emergency food assistance to 13,840 extremely vulnerable households through Ready to Eat Rations (RTERs) (1,500 HH) and In-kind Food Baskets (2,000 HH); tackle chronic food insecurity through Food vouchers (6,200 HH) and Cash for Work (CfW) opportunities (2,500 HH); and improve common food practices and maximize the effects of the assistance provided through tailored ‘Awareness sessions on nutrition, food safety and storage practices’. Complementary activities such as Kitchen Garden Kits (1,600 HH), Home-Garden Kits (200 HH) and Livestock Field Schools with Fodder Vouchers (800 HH) will enhance subsistence food production.
