Addressing food insecurity for vulnerable conflict-affected populations in Syria

Syria Humanitarian Action
July 2020
August 2021

This 12-month project will provide a flexible and comprehensive response to food insecurity in Syria. ACTED will utilize an area-based approach, combining emergency assistance and durable solutions to enhance conflict-affected populations’ food security. ACTED will provide emergency food assistance to 29,340 extremely vulnerable households through Ready to Eat Rations (RTERs) (3,500 HH) and In-kind Food Baskets (12,000 HH); tackle chronic food insecurity through Food vouchers (8,300 HH) and Cash for Work (CfW) opportunities (2,700 HH) and Cash for Food Assistance (440 HH); and improve common food practices and maximize the effects of the assistance provided through tailored ‘Awareness sessions on nutrition, food safety and storage practices’. Complementary activities such as Kitchen Garden Kits (2,200 HH) and Home-Based Business support (640 HH) will enhance subsistence level food production and income generation.
