The overall objective of this project is to contribute to improved safe access to an efficient and sustainable water supply through enhanced water management and environmental sanitation in Lebanon. This will be reached through working together with the Lebanese Water Authorities to (i) enhance the efficient management of the water system; (ii) upgrade the wastewater system and monitor the resources of pollution; and (iii) raise awareness, knowledge, and ownership among relevant stakeholders and communities. As part of the Consortium, ACTED will be working in Beirut and Mount Lebanon (Dahiyeh and Aley) and conduct the following activities: 1) Infrastructural Upgrades – equip one well and extension of water transmission lines in Aley district and rehabilitate wastewater network with household connections in Ouzaii district; 2) Capacity Building for Authorities – promote integrated urban water management; and 3) Community-level outreach – promote sustainable and efficient water use.
