WASH in host communities in Jordan - An interagency assessment

ACTED, in collaboration with UNICEF, MercyCorps, Oxfam, and Relief International, conducted an Interagency WASH Assessment in northern and central Jordan (governorates of Mafraq, Irbid, Ajloun, Jerash, Balqa and Zarqa) in September – October 2013, covering 29 communities. Already one of the most water-scarce countries in the world, Jordan’s water supply, sanitation, and solid waste management resources and services have experienced increased strain following the influx of Syrian refugees. The purpose of this assessment was to identify WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) needs at the community level in order to inform more effective and better targeted WASH interventions across Northern Jordan.
