Uganda : Cost of living in Gulu higher than ever

GULU [ACTED News] – As humanitarian organizations are pulling out of Acholi region, Uganda, locals are left battling an economy so ravaged that people struggle to feed themselves. People used to get food from the World Food Programme but as they have resettled and many NGOs have left the area, local residents acknowledge the need to engage in agricultural activities such as food production so as to reduce their vulnerability. ACTED’s work with farmer groups in Gulu, Amuru and Nwoya aims to address this by supporting productive and profitable agricultural and agri-business activities to ensure food security and household income.
