Support to the local establishment of Central African refugees settled in Southern Chad

This one year long project aims at reaching food and non-food self-sufficiency for the populations as well as to protect their environment. It will increase the food production for the refugees and host populations of the Nya Pendé Department. It will also enhance the capacities of resilience of the local and refugee populations, through diverse sources of income and the adoption of planned resources management strategies. In regards to the preservation of the environment, ACTED will aim at reducing wood and coal consumptions as well as the excessive use of natural resources. Alternative sources of income to selling firewood and coal will be encouraged and nurseryman groups and nurseries will be established to ensure the preservation of the woods. 20,437 households, corresponding to 105,500 people, will benefit from these activities.
