Strengthening fundamental rights and freedoms in he Northern and Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka

Against the backdrop of an increasingly conducive context following the recent change of government,  this 27-months project will aim to promote better understanding and increased respect of fundamental rights and freedoms for all in Sri Lanka by promoting freedom of expression through awareness campaigns and trainings to media, improving the quality of legal services by training inexperienced lawyers and judges, and bringing legal assistance to those who cannot easily access it in the shape of mobile legal clinics for pro-bono assistance. This intervention will benefit the general population of approximately 1,108,500 people from the districts of Jaffna and Batticaloa.
