Somalia: New displacements in Afgooye corridor.
NAIROBI [ACTED News] - Nearly 18,000 people have been registered as displaced through the Afgooye corridor, Somalia, since May. This corridor hosts the largest concentration of internally displaced people in the world, with IDPs representing a particularly vulnerable section of society given their limited resources. Further displacement could accelerate the spread of cholera in the Banadir region. As ACTED works with many IDP communities in Somalia, it is vital that ACTED follows these developments and sees where assistance may be needed as the crisis potentially escalates.
