Rural Roads Rehabilitation and Maintenance Program (USAID)

This project 18-month project aims at improving access to vulnerable rural populations and strengthening peace and stabilization, through the rehabilitation of a priority road and support to economic recovery. Rehabilitation/construction works on the RR8 between Bozoum and Bossangoa will be done using a labour-intensive approach, through “Cash for Work” (CFW), “Voucher for work” (VFW) and “Food for Work” (FFW schemes). Road maintenance committees will be created and trained, to take charge of the road maintenance and small repairs, once rehabilitated; they will also be trained so as to be able to develop themselves into small business units. The project will directly benefit 9,067 households and indirectly the whole population living in Bozoum and Bossangoa – 77,000 people – as well as the population of the two prefectures – 800,000 individuals.
