Rehabilitating WASH facilities in Wau central prison

At the central prison in Wau, the capital of Western Bahr el Ghazal state in South Sudan, there was dire need for improved water and sanitation facilities: the prison had only two latrines and two water points for 445 inmates and no separate facilities available for female inmates. In response, ACTED built two new latrine blocks and two hand-washing facilities, including a separate water line for the female area, with the financial support of CIDA. This construction has greatly improved access to water and appropriate sanitation facilities for inmates and specifically improved conditions for women at the facility.
