Rapid assessment of displaced people in Maguindanao

Over 4,000 families have been affected and 1,104 families displaced in three municipalities in Maguindanao due to continued conflict and flooding. Military operations have caused widespread fear throughout the municipalities, leading farmers to leave their field unattended. Furthermore, continued rains have resulted in flooding of the area.

ACTED Rapid Response team conducted an assessment in the three affected municipalities of Datu Salibo, Shariff Saydona Mustapha and Talitay, identifying the immediate needs of people displaced and affected. Assessment results highlighted that families affected by the internal conflict, and are in need of basic humanitarian assistance such as food, shelter and hygiene items.

In response to the humanitarian needs, ACTED is responding in the form of hygiene kit distribution to affected families.
