Providing the tools to rebuild agricultural livelihoods in Northern Uganda
GULU [ACTED News] – In Northern Uganda, as internally displaced persons (IDPs) have returned home and gained access to land, ACTED has been working with farmers on infrastructure and capacity development to rebuild agricultural livelihoods. The agricultural restoration initiative, funded by the Danish International Development Agency, is currently being implemented in the districts of Amuru and Nwoya. In this context, groups of farmers have been selected to work on projects to improve public infrastructure. Activities include the improvement of community access roads, brick molding and working in orchards. Every day ACTED teams travel to different locations in the Northern region to distribute hoes, axes, jerry cans and other tools to Project Management Committees who are waiting eagerly to begin work.
