Pakistan : Planning for the summer floods just as the rain starts to fall
ISLAMABAD [ACTED News] – Floods are expected to directly affect 29 districts across Sindh, Punjab and KPK Provinces between July and September 2012, according to reports by the National Disaster Management Authority. In response, the Pakistani government, humanitarian stakeholders and United Nations’ agencies have compiled a floods contingency plan to ensure efficient preparation. Humanitarian organizations have been positioned alongside the district governments as the prime link with the potentially affected-populations. Being currently based in areas affected by 2010 and 2011 floods, ACTED is strengthening the groundwork for this response in each base, project team and the country strategy to fully address this central role.
