Pakistan: late monsoon leads to floods and drought in different parts of the country

ISLAMABAD [ACTED News] - Rising rivers as a result of heavy rainfall have killed nine people and injured eleven in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Pakistan. Rains also caused water levels to rise in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, affecting communication and transport networks. While in Tharparkar, Sindh and Gwadar, Balochistan, drought warnings have been issued by the local authorities. ACTED remains alert to the various conditions across the country and continues to support the humanitarian communities’ related contingency planning. In the event of an emergency being declared by the national authorities, ACTED intends to respond to support the vulnerable communities in their time of need.
