New Syrian refugee arrivals spark expanded ACTED intervention
AMMAN [ACTED News] – As violence escalated last week in Southern Syria, the number of Syrian refugees crossing into Jordan has reached a peak with over 2,000 new arrivals over the last two weeks. This has prompted local authorities to activate emergency responses in coordination with the relevant international agencies present in the border region. In this context, ACTED’s activities in Northern Jordan have intensified, and the team expanded its water, hygiene and sanitation intervention to meet the needs of about 4,000 Syrian refugees present in the four transit facilities in Al Ramtha area. ACTED is providing them daily with potable water, hygiene kits and urgent hygiene messages, and access to sanitation services, to ensure that they are hosted in decent and safe conditions.
