Monsoon rains lead to localised flash floods

ISLAMABAD [ACTED News] - Monsoon rains continue throughout Pakistan, threatening the arrival of flash floods in the districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s weather advisory, issued on Thursday 6th September 2012. Already this year, Pakistan’s monsoon rains have led to flash floods in Nowshera, Peshawar, Waziristan and FATA. However, the rains have still not restored the reservoirs and without continued rain, drought conditions may continue to prevail in the coming months. ACTED’s teams working in Pakistan continue to monitor the situation and are ready to respond as necessary in coordination with the Government of Pakistan.
