Modernising agro-food production in Tajikistan
ACTED recently organized the visit of two Tajik agronomists to Poland to develop their knowledge of modern farming technology. The Tajik team was invited to visit different agricultural facilities and agronomic laboratory. As Tajik climatic conditions are similar to the ones in Poland, this cross country visit allowed Tajik farmers to directly benefit from these imported techniques. Indeed, agro-consultants and scientists were then trained, hence relaying the information. Poland has held the worldwide second position in manufacturing fruits for the last 10 years, with an average of 50 to 70 tons of apples and 35 to 40 tons of pears produced per hectare, hence standing as a true model for the future of fruit production in Tajikistan.
