Local Purchases for Progress Pilot Project to Support Safety Nets in Zimbabwe

This eleven-month project aims at strengthening small scale farming in rural areas of Mashonaland East and contributing to the overall food security of Zimbabwe. It will support the economic recovery of low income small scale farmers and the private sector in Mashonaland East, as well as contribute to the food safety nets of vulnerable groups in Zimbabwe through the provision of cereals. Funded by the French Embassy in Harare, this project will benefit to 3,000 vulnerable farmers who will receive vouchers and cash in exchange of 600 MT of sorghum and maize. 30,000 vulnerable families will also receive 600 MT of sorghum/maize and the business of three input traders or distributors will be supported through USD 115,000 worth orders.
