Libya: Training for elections

TRIPOLI [ACTED News] - In Libya, ACTED began “training of trainers” workshops on voter education for representatives of national civil society organisations (CSOs) for the future elections. The first round commenced early May and has seen workshops held in Tripoli, Benghazi and Misrata, with over 136 local CSOs represented. ACTED is currently updating its training manual based on lessons learned from these workshops, and will start the second round shortly, focusing on reaching more peripheral areas, particularly the Green Mountains, the Nafusa Mountains and Sabha. Each two-day workshop focused on the processes involved in voter registration and the role and responsibility of citizens during the electoral process. It also introduced attendees to innovative outreach strategies aimed at raising voter awareness.
