Iraq: Safe and secure areas for children
ERBIL [ACTED News] - ACTED opened an emergency Child friendly space (CFS) to support children of Syrian refugees in Dohuk, a Northern governorate of Iraq in June. Over 3,500 Syrian refugees are currently living in a refugee camp there, and over one hundred children are currently attending the CFS which provides a safe and secure environment for the children. Volunteers from within the camp have been mobilized to provide a wide range of activities, including play and recreation such as games, sports, art, drama and music, as well as child protection activities, such as children's rights awareness and hygiene promotion. This project is supported by UNICEF and in cooperation with the Dohuk Governorate Emergency Cell.
