Iraq apprentices increase employers' revenue
BAGHDAD [ACTED News] – 93% of entrepreneurs involved in ACTED’s pilot apprenticeship scheme in Thi Qar Governorate reported satisfaction with it, according to survey results assessing the scheme’s overall economic benefit and impact. Other preliminary findings are similarly positive: 69% of trainer employers reported that they increased their revenue with the apprenticeship scheme, which began in February 2011, and 64% preferred the sustainable option of getting more tools, rather than cash (when offered 10 USD per day in tools versus 5 USD per day in cash).
